Dear
Friend of Point Loma High School,
The summer of 2007 is almost
here and Reunion activities are being planned for many PLHS alumni
classes. In this issue we feature the most current information
we have received about upcoming reunions. If you have
additional details
and/or contacts, please send to: Reunions@pointerassociation.org
We update the website (www.pointerassociation.org) as quickly as we
receive information so check back often for more info!
There are plenty of other exciting things happening that you can be
involved in at PLHS: The Band's Crescendo Gala, PL/OB day at Petco Park, Senior
Exhibitions, the PLHS Class of 1949 Football team reunion. And there is still
time to purchase a commemorative brick to be installed in the new wall along
Chatsworth Blvd.

Wanted: Alumni to serve on the
Board |
|
Alumni, you can make a
difference! Together we will help PLHS become a Center of Excellence
in our Community.
The
Point Loma High School Foundation and Alumni Association is a 501c3 non profit
benefit corporation formed when the PLHS Foundation, PLHS Alumni Association,
and Point Loma 2000, merged in 1999. Adopted by the administration at
Point Loma as the sole adult fundraising organization for all community and
parent organized, sponsored, and operated fundraising activities (exclusive of
PTSA) we support several funding initiatives for PLHS, are the umbrella
organization for all Booster groups on campus, support the efforts of PLHS
Alumni activities, and maintain a database of Alumni contact information and
provide resources for reunion chairs.
The
PLHSFAA envisions PLHS as a center of excellence in our community - an asset in
which the whole community can take great pride. It is our mission to develop and
provide the resources for enhancing the educational environment of PLHS, with a
goal of building Pointer Pride for generations past, present and future.
Who
is the PLHSFAA?
Parents (current and former), Alumni, Staff, and Community members
all serve on the board of the FAA. We meet the first Tuesday of every
month in the evening.
The
Nominating committee is currently looking for decision makers and
self-motivated individuals who want to take on a piece of the organization and
can envision what needs to be done to move it to the next level. We are
also looking for Committee chairs for individual projects and events and 'worker
bees' who just want to be involved.
If
you want to help improve the quality programs at PLHS, upgrade and maintain
campus facilities, or help former Pointers stay in contact with the school and
their classmates then the PLHSFAA is a great place to be involved.
Just tell us what interests you and we will find a spot for
you!
Go
to www.pointerassociation.org to learn more about us.

Yearbook Library |
|
We are looking for old Yearbooks and a volunteer Librarian to organize
them!
Thanks to many generous donations, we have copies of PLHS yearbooks from
several years. However, we are missing the following years:
1925-29, 1933-38, 1943, 1945-52, 1954-55. 1959, 1961-63, 1967-1993,
1998-1999, 2001-2006. If you have an "extra" copy hanging around, we would
love to keep it safe! Along the same note, we are looking for a volunteer
librarian to organize the yearbooks and the many editions of The Pointer and
scrapbooks that we have. If you are interested, please contact Karen
Tisdale at tisdalefam@aol.com, or 619
