Reunion Updates and Alumni Gatherings

Pointers have been gathering at various locations around Pt Loma for reunion events.  Attendees of Classes of 48, 53, 58, 68, 73 and 83 all report fun reunions.

Photos from Classes of 58 and 73 are posted to a photobucket account.  Contact your reunion chair to get the log in and password.

Special Congratulations go to:

Class of 58 who celebrated 50 years!

And to Class of 48 who celebrated 60 years!

Many thanks to the hard-working committees who made their events very special for classmates. This year chairs made the most of the Alumni resources we have to offer.  Email is the best way we have of staying in contact with classmates.  Please be sure to keep yours current in the Online directory.  And tell your friends to register  (free) so we can find them.  (If they are on classmates.com we may miss them!)

Go to  REUNIONS  for the most current information on your next class reunion event.

Pointer Football Update

Football 08Running back Leslie Rogers (23), a 6-1, 180-pound junior, breaks away for an 82-yard touchdown run in the Pointers' season-opening 29-26 victory over Monte Vista.  Rogers gained 290 yards in the game.  Escorting him is Dallas Campbell (65), while James Fink (55) and Kevin Cragin (60) have made their blocks.  (Photo by Scott Hopkins, PLHSFAA Communications Director.)

After a 24-7 win over El Capitan last Friday, the Pointers stand at 2-1 on the young season.

How you can help support PLHS and Alumni:

1.  eScrip:  It costs you nothing, only takes a moment to sign up, and each time you shop a  contribution goes to PLHSFAA.  For a limited time you could Win an iPod Shuffle just by signing up for escrip, or letting us sign up for you. Go to PLHSFAA and click on 'Flyer for iPod promotion.'  (One member kept track during the summer and discovered that her purchases earned over $250 for PLHSFAA.  Imagine if we have 100 families signed up!)

2.  eCycle:  The Point Loma High School Foundation and Alumni Association runs an ongoing recycling/fundraising program for used cell phones and empty laser/inkjet printer cartridges.  Proceeds from this program fund PLHSFAA's Green Scholarship awarded each year to a graduating senior student. Please help by donating your used cell phones and ink cartridges on campus or at locations around Point Loma.  Drop your used cell phones and ink cartridges at:  PLHS campus, SD County Credit Union on Rosecrans, SD National Bank, Carefree Vacations, Postal Annex on Shelter Island, OB Mainstreet office, Jungle Java and Bone Appetite on Newport Ave.

3.  Buy a Brick:  Be a part of campus with a Pointer Commemorative Brick!  The new seat wall on Chatsworth has a limited number of spaces left.

4.  Become a MemberIndividual and Business Memberships help the PLHSFAA maintain programs that support PLHS activities, Pointer Priorities, Booster groups, and Alumni resources.  Join us!
