Richard Arnold, PLHS ’59, has generously offered his professional talent to sculpt a life-sized bronze Pointer dog that will be mounted in the courtyard at PLHS. Mr. Arnold was on campus last week with a sketch and asked students for advice as to placement. The students were excited about having ‘our dog’ (their words) in the Quad. The dog will be unveiled during 85th Gala weekend festivities in November. Donations are being accepted to help offset the cost of materials and the cement base.

PLHS 85th Birthday Gala
Liberty Station Conference Center.
An energetic and enthusiastic committee has come together to plan the 85th birthday celebration for PLHS. The working theme is “Once a Pointer, Always a Pointer” and will focus on our Pointer history, our present, and our continuing support for the future. This is a not to be missed event (the 80th was sold out with people waiting in the parking lot to get in) so be sure to watch your email for ticket information coming later this summer. And start contacting friends and planning your table now!
The Gala weekend will be filled with activities for alumni, parents, and the community to celebrate PLHS. Campus tours, sporting events, a very special ‘unveiling’, will surround the big Gala event.
There are two hotels right next door to the Conference Center at Liberty Station. They have each access to the airport, downtown, and PLHS. Liberty Station is filled with shops and restaurants and a wonderful waterside park. We will be working with a travel agent to try to get good rates for alumni so check the Gala page on the website.
There will be a committee meeting May 26th at 6:30pm in Room 301 at PLHS. Everyone is welcome!

From the Alumni Director:
PLHS Pointer Association bylaws include an Article providing for an Alumni Committee to ensure continued support to our alums. At the May Pointer Association Board meeting, the re-establishment of the Alumni Committee was presented and approved. This group will find ways to keep improving our connection with, and resources for, 85 years of PLHS Alumni.
I got to know so many of you over the past 6 years and could not just walk away from those friendships as I take on my new job . So I am thrilled to serve as Alumni Director and Committee chair. (And eUpdates will still be coming from me. Ideas for improvement are always welcome!) We have alums from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's represented on the committee so far. If you are interested in joining us please let me know.
We promise it will be more fun than work!

We can't do it without you! Please Give.
Every year the Pointer Association asks our Alumni, Parents, and the Community to help support our mission of building Pointer Pride for generations past, present, and future. The current economy and budget crisis in California have taken a toll on our educational system. Philanthropic giving is down considerably. We need your support to continue to provide support to our students, staff, and alumni. In a few days you will recieve an email asking for your support...please won't you give any amount to help?
If you can't wait for the email to arrive, Donate now!
